Which Miami Neighborhoods are Most Popular for Celebrities?

Miami is a playground for the rich and famous. As one of the ten most wealthy cities in the world, it’s certainly a city celebrities love to call home. While they love to live in Miami, not every neighborhood attracts celebrities. In fact, only a handful actually have the ability to attract attention from the rich and famous.

While celebrities living in Miami isn’t anything new, some of the neighborhoods they choose are newer. Here’s a look at some of the most popular neighborhoods attracting celebrities throughout Miami.

Star Island

star-islandThe list cannot start anywhere else. Even though Star Island only includes 34 homes, they are some of the most exclusive homes in the entire world. Celebrities love this manmade island found in the Biscayne Bay. It’s a one street neighborhood that anybody can enter after stopping at the guard gate.

The estates on Star Island are incredibly large and it’s home to some of the most wealthy residents of Florida. Some of the celebrities that have called Star Island home include Shaquille O’Neal, Rosie O’Donnell, Julio Iglesias and Gloria Estefan.

Homes on Star Island start around $10 million and go up from there. Sales don’t happen often with only about one home sold every year, or less.

South Beach or SoBe

A pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with plenty to enjoy, South Beach is known for attracting celebrities looking for a second or third home. This isn’t the place to find huge mansions, however. Usually, celebrities living in South Beach choose luxury condos and penthouses. It’s a pricy area with some single-family homes, which celebrities do choose some of the time.

The nightlife draws plenty of celebrities to South Beach and some decide they don’t want to leave. It has been home to celebrities, such as David Caruso and Gianni Versace.

Fisher Island

fisher-islandAnother island found in Miami is home to many celebrities. Fisher Island is a barrier island and it’s known for having the highest per capita income in the entire country. It’s one of the most exclusive places to live in the entire world with some of the finest real estate.

Both single-family mansions and condominium buildings are found throughout with some of the most luxurious amenities you’ll find. A private marina, yacht club, secluded beach club, golf course and many other amenities are all found here. The island serves as a home for some of the most elite celebrities, such as Andre Agassi, Jim Carrey and Oprah Winfrey.

Condos of all different sizes are found throughout the islands. While prices start in the mid-$200s, they go up to as much as $15 million at Oceanside.

Coral Gables

Another very popular neighborhood for celebrities in Miami is Coral Gables. While it’s not as exclusive as some of the others, there are neighborhoods within Coral Gables providing plenty of exclusivity. It’s found close to many of the best Miami has to offer and some of the largest estates provide luxury amenities. Coral Gables is also known for the great schools.

Some of the celebrities calling Coral Gables home include Dave Barry, Antoine Walker, Alex Rodriguez and Pat Riley.

Palm Island

palm-islandThe third island found on the list is another manmade choice found in the Biscayne Bay. It’s only accessible from the Mac Arthur Causeway. The homes provide a grand appearance and the best in luxury living. With large swimming pools, huge outdoor spaces, private docks for mega yachts and plenty of other luxurious features, it’s no surprise Palm Island is treasured by celebrities.

Some of the celebrities living here include Barbara Walters, Anna Kournikova, Al Capone, Enrique Iglesias and Gabrielle Anwar. The homes on the island usually start around $4 million and go up to more than $20 million. Some will sell for closer to $2 million, but that’s rare.

Key Biscayne

As the neighborhood topping the list of most expensive in Miami, it’s no surprise it’s chosen by many celebrities. Key Biscayne offers all types of luxuries form incredible beaches to major parks to amazing homes. It’s also very convenient to the airport, downtown and many of the best features of Miami. Not only is Key Biscayne chosen by many celebrities, but also by rich business executives.

Some of the celebrities calling Key Biscayne home include Andy Garcia and Cher.

There are several neighborhoods known for celebrity homes in Miami. Along with this list, these rich homebuyer tend to migrate towards Miami’s Design District, Bal Harbor, Miami Beach, Surfside and Downtown Miami.
